What features have LIFX been working on so far in 2025? Give us a minute and we’ll get you caught up.
Lower latency control via Matter.
We’ve launched local control via the new smart home standard matter, allowing people to use their local network to get lightning fast responses. This doesn’t use the internet, so messages won’t relay to the cloud and back before a light reacts. This is available now via the new LIFX Luna and the LIFX Switch via a free in-app update.
More Control than ever now at your fingertips.
With local Matter support on both LIFX Luna and LIFX Switch, users can now configure specific buttons to interact with other matter products in their home when using Apple Home or Alexa. Now a LIFX user can double press a button on their bedside Luna to trigger a good night’s scene in Apple Home, locking the house, bedding off lights. Closing the blinds and setting the thermostat to the perfect climate for sleep. Now a LIFX user could double press a button on their bedside Luna to trigger a ‘goodnight’ scene on Apple Home, locking the house, fading off the lights, closing all the blinds, and setting the thermostat to the perfect climate for sleep.
Lower effort whole home control.
The buttons on LIFX Luna and LIFX Switch can be used to control your LIFX lights in a range of new ways. You can now set buttons to adjust brightness and dimming levels on smart lights, cycle from a warm to cool white, and your scenes can now trigger dynamic lighting effects, which means you can do things like set a double press of a button to put the whole room into a morphing party seat.
Streamlined Setup.
Starting with the LIFX Luna, reducing the steps needed to get connected by offering a more tailored flow based on a user’s home and existing product. First time users will have a simpler set of steps than advanced users, and button suggestions will be generated from the other products you have.
